Happy Republic Day 2020

India became the largest democracy in the world only after the Constitution of India came into existence on Janaury 26, 1950. And to celebrate this joyous occasion, we celebrate Republic Day every year. The entire country observes this day with patriotism and enthusiasm. The biggest celebration happens in the national capital New Delhi where a grand parade is held at Rajpath. This parade showcases the cultural heritage of the country, as well as the military might of the nation.

Students of class 8 investigated how changing the mass of ammonium chloride affected the temperature change when ammonium chloride dissolves in water.
With the help of weighing machine they measured 2g , 4g, 6g ammonium chloride and put it in the conical flask . They poured water inside it and measured the temperature with the help of thermometer.
They observed with increasing the mass of ammonium chloride, temperature change is larger. This activity helped them to be more clear about the concept of temperature changes in a chemical reaction.

First lunar eclipse : January 10, 2020

On January 10 night, countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia will witness a penumbral lunar eclipse.

What is a penumbral lunar eclipse?

A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are imperfectly aligned. The Earth blocks some of the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon’s surface and covers all or part of the Moon with the outer part of its shadow, known as the penumbra.

When you can see the eclipse?

“In India, the penumbral lunar eclipse will begin at 10.37 p.m. on January 10 and will end around 2.42 a.m. on January 11. The greatest eclipse when about 90% of the moon will be covered by the partial shadow region of the Earth will be at 00:41 a.m. The eclipse will hence last for a little more than 4 hours,”

Drawing magnetic field lines using compass around a bar magnet Class 7 Activity

Students of class 7 observed the direction of magnetic field line around a bar magnet using compass , pencil , paper and bar magnet.
They placed a bar magnet on a piece of paper and draw the outline of bar magnet on it , align it with ruler. After that they placed compass on various positions around bar magnet, they observed that the magnetic field lines starts from the north pole of bar magnet and ends on south pole of the bar magnet.
