CELEBRATING DUSSEHRA IN A SCIENTIFIC MANNER
The festival of Dussehra is celebrated with much fervour and enthusiasm across the country. According to Hindu religious text Ramayana, it is the day when Lord Rama had eliminated Lanka king, Ravana, who had kidnapped his wife, Goddess Sita. The festival is celebrated as a symbol of victory of good over evil.
Learners of Cambridge International,DAVPS celebrated the festival in a scientific manner. Discussion on various moments in Ramayana occured which have some scientific reason, Like the scientific reason behind the working of vimaans, the reason behind the floating stones in ram setu, importance of sanjeevani herb.
Celebrating festival i.e discussing the events of festivals in a scientific manner gave learners much engagement in the hindu culture and enhance their interest in the festivities.
Investigating adaptation ( Fat insulation ) - Stage-9 Activity
Learners of stage -9 performed an activity in which they tested whether the fat insulation in body of animals living in polar regions help them to survive in extremely cold regions.
They took Two glasses and pour ice cold water in it. In one finger they applied butter which mimics the fat insulation and then they pour their fingers of both the hands in ice child water. They observe that the finger which is having fat insulation is protects them from sensing icy water .
